The Qur'anic Map

Demystifying the Qur’an

The Qur'an is a miraculous script, containing the words of Allah.

It is not merely a collection of Arabic passages verses to be ritually memorised and recited. The Qur’an is the encyclopaedia and the map for our lives in this world, containing a wealth of knowledge, wisdom and guidance.

The Qur'an is the only surviving miracle amongst all miracles granted to the Prophets of Allah SWT. It is the final and comprehensive guidance to mankind, in the very words of our Creator. It contains messages to be read, comprehended and applied to all aspects of our lives – physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual.

For many of us, the acquaintance with the Qur'an is limited to reciting it once in a while before it is placed back onto the shelf. So many of us are intimidated by its presentation, and mistakenly think that it is too mysterious and too difficult to comprehend. This is partly because the layout of the Qur'an does not resemble that of ordinary books that we are used to.

However, we need to understand the words of the Qur'an, for without understanding God's words, how do we know that Allah is telling us? While there are many virtues of reciting the Qur'an, its true benefits are in the meaning. It is akin to a doctor's prescription, where the true healing comes from taking the medication prescribed, instead of just reading what the prescription says.

Understanding the essence of the Qur'an is much easier than you think. So put aside any notion that the Qur'an is impossible to understand, and join us on a truly exciting and rewarding journey of the soul

I am now reciting and contemplating the Quran following the order of the revelation. This journey has been most satisfying as I can appreciate the messages that Allah has given to the Prophet saw at the time of the revelation. As the earlier surahs stress mainly on tauhid it helps me focus on Allah and makes me understand the essence of Islam. The Quran speaks to me in ways that I have not experienced before.
