Who am I and why am I here? Part 1

Do I know the purpose of my life?

The Qur'an says:

And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (Al Qur'an 51:56)

Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant. (Al Qur'an 33:72)

We were not created at random nor we were created to live our lives aimlessly. The Almighty Creator, Allah, created us to worship Him and to carry the Trust.

What is the Trust? It is our belief, to personify it, be a role model to others and to carry the Trust to mankind. This is our job, as He explained to us through many verses in the Qur'an and ahadeeth.

Our creation did not happen by our will. By the will of Allah and His wisdom, the moment we, as the sons or descendants of Adam AS, came into existence, we automatically had a duty to discover our Creator. Allah chooses to give the lucky ones guidance through different means and circumstances. Once Allah allows us to have the knowledge and belief, He wants us to spread that message.

In other words, He introduced us to the message and from there, gave us the freedom to choose whether or not we want to accept the job that He created for us and honours us with. This means whether we want the success in this life and the hereafter, or whether we will be distracted in our journey of life by the toys of dunia and lose the vision and sense of direction to the message which Allah introduced us to.

The rewards of performing this honoured job and doing the best for it, is hidden and remains part of our belief and faith in the unseen. We believe in the promise of Allah and are patient with the rewards. It's not like a regular job, where we do a good job, get a salary at the end of the month and a nice bonus at the end of the year if we excel. The concept of carrying out the Trust is much higher. Through it, Allah wants to test our belief in His word, command and promises, all of which are unseen. This is why the reward for those who respond to this call is humungous, and abundant beyond our capacity to imagine.

The fulfilment of the Trust is what makes Messengers and Prophets, and their disciples and companions, ready to sacrifice the utmost to achieve the pleasure of the Creator and the rewards He promised.
